Things That Are True Open the cards

What We Believe

These are the big truths every card grows from. They come from the historic New Hampshire Confession of Faith, as our church holds it, put into words a child can understand.

The Bible

God wrote the Bible through people He chose. Every word is true, and it tells us what to believe and how to live.

2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:105

God

There is one true God. He made everything, He is in charge of everything, and He is always good.

Genesis 1:1; Psalm 145:9

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

God is three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each one is fully God, and there is still only one God.

Matthew 28:19

People and sin

God made people good, to know Him and love Him. But all of us choose our own way instead of God’s way. That is sin, and it separates us from God.

Genesis 1:31; Romans 3:23

Jesus

Jesus is God’s Son. He became a man and lived a perfect life. He died on the cross to pay for our sin, and He rose again. Now He rules as King and loves us as our Savior.

John 3:16; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

How God saves us

We can’t earn God’s love by being good. Before the world began, God chose a people to be His own children. He didn’t choose them because they were better than anyone else. He chose them because He is kind and full of love. In His perfect time, God gives each of them a new heart to turn from sin and trust in Jesus. The good news about Jesus is for everyone to hear, and everyone who trusts in Him is saved. It is all a free gift of God’s grace.

Ephesians 1:4–5; John 6:37; Ephesians 2:8–9

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit gives us new hearts that love God. He helps us turn from sin, trust Jesus, and grow more like Him.

Ezekiel 36:26; Galatians 5:22–23

Growing

God keeps working in His children their whole lives, through His Word, prayer, and His people. Good works don’t save us, but they grow from a heart God has saved, like fruit from a root.

Philippians 1:6; Ephesians 2:10

God keeps His children

Everyone who truly belongs to Jesus is kept safe by God forever. No one can snatch them out of His hand.

John 10:28–29

The church

The church is God’s family of believers. We worship Him together, learn His Word, and love one another.

Hebrews 10:24–25

Family

God made families. Marriage is a lifelong promise between a husband and a wife. Children are a gift from God. Parents teach their children God’s ways, and children honor and obey their parents.

Genesis 2:24; Psalm 127:3; Ephesians 6:1–4

Jesus is coming back

One day Jesus will come back. He will raise everyone who has died, and He will judge every person. God is holy and fair, so sin must be punished. Everyone who trusts in Jesus is forgiven, because Jesus took the punishment for them, and they will live with Him in joy forever. Everyone who refuses to turn from sin and trust Him will be separated from God and punished forever. That is why we tell everyone the good news about Jesus.

John 14:3; Acts 17:31; Matthew 25:46; Revelation 21:4
